One of the biggest issues with performing Phased Array and ToFD Weld and corrosion scanning is the high cost of scanner hardware.
- This leads to most companies having only 1 scanner that needs to be rebuilt frequently and therefore is exposed to wear and tear.
- Further most of the common scanner hardware is limited in their usability.
- I have more than 10 years of PAUT field experience and have developed a series of practical and versatile 3D printed scanner components that can be applied to different component and weld configurations.
- My concept is not to compete with much more expensive scanners, the idea is to be able to have 2, 3 or 4 scanners, setup for the jobs you need to do, instead of having to rebuild that one scanner you have.
- I have designed the scanners so that the magnetic wheels and the encoder runs almost in-line with the wedges, where there is good contact and clean surfaces.
